Greene Count youngsters are invited to enjoy a day outdoors at the annual Youth Shoot next Saturday at Slininger Woods, located at 1430 Jordan Ave west of Jefferson. Check-in begins at 9:30 am, with activities from 10 am to 4 pm. There is no charge. The last day to register for the event is Monday, Sept. 8.
Participants will be able to shoot black powder rifles, shot guns, rifles, and arrows (with bows). There will be a trapping demonstration and other outdoor activities.
A free lunch will be provided by the Greene County Pheasants Forever.
The event is open to all youngsters ages 8-17. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration can be done at www.greenecoyouthday.info, or by calling Dean Ross at 515-386-4402.
Sponsors are the Greene County Sportsman’s Club, Greene County conservation board, Greene County Peace Officers, the Iowa DNR, 4-H Shooting Sports, and the local chapters of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever.
